As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1
When a deer is thirsty, it does not casually search for water. It pants, its breathing becomes heavy, its body weak, and its entire being is focused on finding a stream. It searches persistently, driven by a deep and desperate need, because water is essential for its life.
In the same way, the psalmist expresses a deep longing of the soul for God.
Each one of us has a longing within, a space in our soul that desires to be filled. Often, we try to satisfy this thirst with the things of the world, but nothing truly satisfies. That emptiness remains.
Our souls are created to long for our Heavenly Father. Just as the deer pants for water, our hearts should continually thirst for Him. Nothing else can truly bring life; only the Living Water from Jesus can satisfy. John 4:10 says, ‘Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”’
Romans 5:5 reminds us that the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Because of this, we are not empty; we are filled with His love.
Let our souls long for Him day and night. Let us live with the awareness that without Him, we cannot take even a single step.
Reflection: What hunger drives you to seek Him with unwavering focus, refusing anything that dulls your thirst, and believing that only His life‑giving presence can sustain your soul?

அதேபோல, சங்கீதக்காரன் தேவனுக்காகத் தன் ஆத்துமாவில் ஏற்படும் ஆழமான வாஞ்சையை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்.
நம் ஒவ்வொருவருக்குள்ளும் ஒரு வாஞ்சை இருக்கிறது, நம் ஆத்துமாவில் நிரப்பப்பட வேண்டிய ஒரு வெற்றிடம் உள்ளது. பல நேரங்களில், உலகத்தின் காரியங்களைக் கொண்டு இந்தத் தாகத்தைத் தீர்க்க நாம் முயற்சிக்கிறோம், ஆனால் எதுவும் உண்மையிலேயே நம்மைத் திருப்திப்படுத்துவதில்லை. அந்த வெற்றிடம் அப்படியே இருக்கிறது.
நம்முடைய ஆத்துமாக்கள் நம் பரம பிதாவை வாஞ்சிப்பதற்காகவே படைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. மான் தண்ணீருக்காக வாஞ்சித்துக் கதறுவது போல, நம் இருதயங்களும் அவருக்காகத் தொடர்ந்து தாகமாயிருக்க வேண்டும். வேறெதுவும் உண்மையான ஜீவனைக் கொண்டுவர முடியாது; இயேசு தரும் ஜீவத்தண்ணீர் மட்டுமே நம்மைத் திருப்திப்படுத்த முடியும். யோவான் 4:10 கூறுகிறது: "இயேசு அவளுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீ தேவனுடைய ஈவையும், தாகத்துக்குத்தா என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்கிறவர் இன்னார் என்பதையும் அறிந்திருந்தாயானால், நீயே அவரிடத்தில் கேட்டிருப்பாய், அவர் உனக்கு ஜீவத்தண்ணீரைக் கொடுத்திருப்பார் என்றார்."
நமக்கு அருளப்பட்ட பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே தேவனுடைய அன்பு நம்முடைய இருதயங்களில் ஊற்றப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்பதை ரோமர் 5:5 நமக்கு நினைவூட்டுகிறது. இதினிமித்தம், நாம் வெறுமையாக இல்லை; நாம் அவருடைய அன்பினால் நிரப்பப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்.
நம் ஆத்துமாக்கள் இரவும் பகலும் அவரை வாஞ்சிப்பதாக. அவர் இல்லாமல் நம்மால் ஒரு அடி கூட எடுத்து வைக்க முடியாது என்ற உணர்வோடு நாம் வாழ்வோமாக.
சிந்திக்க: உங்கள் தாகத்தை மழுங்கடிக்கும் அனைத்தையும் நிராகரித்து, ஜீவன் தரும் அவருடைய சமூகம் மட்டுமே உங்கள் ஆத்துமாவை நிலைநிறுத்த முடியும் என்று விசுவாசித்து, சற்றும் விலகாத கவனத்தோடு அவரைத் தேடும்படி எவ்வகையான ஆர்வம் உங்களைத் தூண்டுகிறது?
